Vacation Bible School

A week of Summer fun for the Kids

Rocky Railway Vacation Bible School 2021

Vacation Bible School is back for 2021! Join us on board the Rocky Railway as we learn that Jesus' Power Pulls Us Through! Your child will experience music, drama, science, games, and more as they learn about the book of Acts!

Our 2021 VBS will look a bit different from past years in order to comply with the social distancing regulations set by the United Methodist Church. We encourage you to read through all our planned changes before you register your child. We look forward to seeing you all in person this summer and can't wait to share VBS with you again!

Social Distancing and Safety Plan

Rocky Railway VBS will be making changes for the safety of your children and our volunteers. Our full Social Distancing and Safety Plan will be made available to you by the end of May.

  1. We will only be offering an Elementary program. This program will be for students who have just finished Kindergarten - 5th grade.
  2. We are limiting the number of attendees to 50 students. All students must be pre-registered.
  3. Masks must be worn by all attendees, students and volunteers, even if they have been vaccinated. No exceptions will be made.
  4. Temperature checks will be taken before and during the event.
  5. Children will be staying in Family Crews for the entirety of the event. Family crews will consist of children from your family and be joined by 1 or 2 other families. Family Crews will not exceed 5 to 6 students.
  6. We will be including and safety and sanitation crew to help maintain cleanliness during the event.
  7. Check in and Pick up procedures will be changing and will be happening outside the Family Life Center this year. Specific details to come for those who pre-register.

Registration Information

We cannot make final decisions about our VBS format until we have an idea of pre-registration numbers. Our two VBS options are outlined below. When you pre-register, you will be asked which option you prefer, but understand that the final decision will come down to majority and the number of attendees registered. Pre-registration closes May 21st to allow time for families to adjust plans as needed if their top choice is not selected. We cannot guarantee that your child will be able to participate this year if you register after that date. After pre-registration is closed, we will determine which of the two options of VBS we will move forward with and contact families. From there, your family can choose to remain registered or cancel your registration.

VBS Option 1

5 Day VBS - 6:00 - 8:00 pm - Monday, June 21 - Friday, June 25

This is the traditional VBS option. This option limits the number of attendees to 50 students total, but allows us to run a full 5 night program. This is for Elementary students who have just finished Kindergarten - 5th grade.

VBS Option 2

3 Day VBS - 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Session 1 - Sunday, June 20 - Tuesday, June 22

Session 2 - Wednesday, June 23 - Friday, June 25

This VBS option opens up the opportunity to allow more attendees at 50 students per session. We would run 2 identical VBS sessions for 3 nights instead of 5. This is for Elementary students who have just finished Kindergarten - 5th grade.

Volunteer for VBS Preparations

Decorating Prep (May 10 - 21) - There are many decorations that need prepped and planned for! Help build, paint, and construct set and decoration pieces!

Supply Prep (June 7 - 11) - Help gather and sort supplies for the various VBS stations.

Decorating Week (June 13 - 19) - It's time for the decorations to go up! Help put the large stage pieces together and decorate the Family Life Center!

Volunteer the Week of VBS

Crew Leader - Lead a group of 5 or 6 children through the different events each evening. You’ll be their guide and their friend as you go to each station. Your job is to reinforce what is being taught and to keep kids on the right track throughout the week.

Station Assistant – Assist the Station Leaders in organizing and leading games and activities. Choose between Games, Imagination Station, or Bible.

Sanitation Crew - Help clean and sanitize the building, bathrooms, station areas, and equipment.

Take Home Bag Crew – Help prepare nightly take home bags. Bags will be decorated and sent home each night with a bottle of water, snack, and other VBS goodies. This crew will help prep and hand out the bags.

Registration Crew - Like to organize and keep things tidy? Do you have a welcoming personality? Then come and help with our Registration Team! Each evening of VBS we need friendly, smiling faces to welcome children in and make sure they are signed up and in their crew.

Registration Runner – Help during the registration time by assisting kids in finding their crews. You will lead kids into the Family Life Center after they have registered and help them find their crew leader.

Snack and Supply Helper – Don’t have any time to physically help? You can help by supplying us with snacks, supplies, and decorations! Contact Faye for specific information.
